Each week I am covering one of my 5 steps to live a more intentional life. That is, slowing down, taking time for what’s important, and cutting out stress and “busy-ness”. Today I’m excited to reveal step 3…
Nourish your body
When your life is busy and you may even have a family, like me, to think of. Sometimes you forget about taking the nourishment of your body seriously. You may feel you are too busy for that. I have realised just how important it is to think about what you are eating. Is it food that is good for your body, food for nourishment? Or are you just so busy that you grab what you can, when you can? And by the end of the day you can’t even remember if you had a proper lunch or not.
I now look at meal preparation with a whole different perspective. I think ahead. I like to be prepared work out at the beginning of the day what we will enjoy for dinner that night. I like to try new things and, for me, this creates a greater excitement towards the preparation. I also like to include the family in our dinner choices. In turn this seems to make them more involved and even more complimentary of their dinner. Which is nice, as let’s face it, dinner preparation is so continuous.
Turn off all distractions and eat mindfully.
Enjoy your food.
Enjoy the company of those that you dine with.
Take your time.
